Top 10 High Tech Companies To Invest In 2014

NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- There has been a new way for global aircraft to take flight, with Kenny Dichter, founder and CEO of Wheels Up, and Thomas Flohr, founder and CEO of VistaJet.

Flohr has built a long-range network over Europe, Asia, and Africa, and as the two chief executive officers told TheStreet's Jill Malandrino, the service is now making its way into the United States.

Flohr said the U.S. has the largest market in the world, with 10,000 jets, compared with 8,000 in the rest of the world.

Although it's typically a complex task, renting a luxury airliner has become somewhat easy. With just a three-page contract, clients pay hourly to use the jet service, with a 100-hour minimum over a three-year span, Flohr said. He added that there is an unprecedented demand for global transportation and that many U.S. corporations already use this service overseas. VistaJet uses only new aircrafts, which are still covered by the manufacturer's guarantee. The executives concluded that they should sell out about 5,000-hours within three to four months with 40 to 50 clients and have plans for similar sales, if not more, in 2014. The current arrangement allows for further expansion, with more jets. -- Written by Bret Kenwell in Petoskey, Mich. Follow @BretKenwell

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Nicholas Ward]

InBev (BUD) signaled on my radar after complications with the Department of Justice who had anti-trust concerns over InBev's plans to merge with Grupo Modelo. BUD's stock had been flying high, showing a strong upward trend and this news and the market's response (a nearly 10% fall in stock price) gave me an opportunity to buy into the classic American alcohol manufacturer. Since this purchase on January, 31 2013 at $87.06/share the stock has steadily regained and surpassed its pre-injunction price point due to meetings with the DOJ, Grupo Modelo and Constellation Brands (STZ) and the belief that a merger agreement could be reached. I thought that this was another example of an irrational sell off and happened to be correct (thus far at least).

For beer drinkers weary of imbibing from the traditional aluminum cylinder, Anheuser-Busch InBev (NYSE: BUD  ) has introduced an alternative. Starting next month, the company will offer its signature brew Budweiser in a bowtie-shaped can. The new configuration will be available in special eight-packs in the popular beer's U.S. retail outlets starting on May 6.

Two of the world's largest brewers agreed to become Anheuser-Busch InBev (NYSE: BUD  ) on July 13, 2008 in a $52 billion deal, bringing an occasionally acrimonious month-long takeover battle to a close. The drama had started in mid-June, when InBev -- which had become the world's largest brewer when it was created in a megamerger four years earlier -- made a $46 billion offer to buy Anheuser-Busch. This unsolicited offer was rebuffed two weeks later, and InBev began legal wrangling and shareholder cajoling to tilt the deal to its side. In the end, raising the all-cash offer to $70 a share from the previous level of $65 was enough to bring everyone to the table to get the deal done.
